Being active has benefited my life in so many ways and I love encouraging others to keep moving! I enjoy teaching classes and training individuals of all ages and fitness levels, but I get the most satisfaction from seeing individuals overcome their fears and self-doubts, and discover the unlimited physical, social and emotional benefits they reap when they stay in motion.  We are all stronger than we think!  When I’m not teaching classes or training, I enjoy spending time with my family, kayaking, biking, paddle boarding, and trying out all of the great restaurants in the Lowcountry!

Exercise has always been an important part of my everyday life, and it’s also something I truly enjoy.  I began taking Spinning classes with my mom as a way to spend more time together, and we continue to do so now that I’m in college.  My favorite thing to do is lift weights, however Spinning and TRX have also become important parts of my workout routine.  I love the supportive group setting that Spinning provides, and TRX pushes me harder physically than anything else I do.  I have always enjoyed helping people, so I am extremely excited to use something I am passionate about to help others reach their fitness and life goals.


Barbara Halpern

Yoga E-200/500RYT


You can find Barbara Halpern, E-200/500RYT, all around Charleston teaching Vinyasa Yoga, Gentle& Restorative Yoga, and Yoga for Back Pain.  She is registered through Yoga Alliance, and received her trainings through Holy Cow Yoga Center, Duke Integrative Medicine, and advanced studies with Cyndi Lee, among others.  As a long time marathon runner and coach, she has unique personal experience with athletes, overcoming injuries, and dealing with the physical limitations and emotional challenges of aging.  When she’s not on her yoga mat, you may find her Spinning, hiking, or on long walks with her dog, Diego.

Meredith Gabriel

Meredith Gabriel is a certified Pilates, Yoga  and Spinning instructor.  Meredith’s training includes comprehensive Pilates Apparatus and mat through Balanced Body University, registered yoga teacher (RYT) and spinning instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics with over 15 years of teaching experience. 

Her journey to become an instructor started when she was in college.  Meredith found exercise in college to manage stress and anxiety.  To balance her workouts she started taking Yoga and Pilates classes in Wilmington, NC.  Quickly she learned one of the benefits of both practices was an increased awareness of the breath and mind/body connection.   Her passion now is teaching her clients preventative and post-rehabilitation movement to maintain and improve functional mobility for a lifetime.  She has 8 years of experience working in outpatient and inpatient Physical Therapy settings with a variety of populations.

She has lived in the Charleston area for 10 years with her husband Henri, son Noah and pets French bulldog, Annabelle and German Shorthaired Pointer, Bohicket "Bo".  Meredith is originally from North Carolina and attended UNC-Wilmington where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies in 2001.  She additionally holds an Associate of Health Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 2008.  


Connelly Hardaway


Yoga RYT-200


By day Connelly is the arts editor at the Charleston City Paper. When she's not chasing down the next big arts story, you can find her practicing yoga on her porch — if her dogs allow for it — or at Urban Yoga downtown. She's an occasional runner with a knack for knowing what muscles you're gonna want to stretch after some intense cardio. When she's not working, or working out, you can find her hanging out at a local brewery with her fiance, or her partner in crime, her twin sister.

Brittany is a certified Spinning® and Group Exercise Instructor. As a lifelong athlete and fitness enthusiast, she got hooked on taking group fitness classes while training for triathlons. After several years of working in marketing and PR and fantasizing about a life in fitness, Brittany decided to turn her passion into a career. She became a certified instructor so she could share that passion with others and empower them to improve their quality of life through exercise.  When she's not working out or teaching, Brittany enjoys hiking, soaking up the sun at the beach, exploring the Charleston area, and traveling with her husband.

Thomas,  the Registered Dietitian behind The Fresh Beet Nutrition, a nutrition consulting company serving the people of the lowcountry. Ashley helps clear up the misinformation surrounding nutrition and reduces the anxiety you have about food by helping you find an eating style that fits your individual needs. There is no one-size-fits-all diet; eating low carb may work for some but it may not work for you, and that's ok! A truly nourishing diet is one where both kale salads and glazed doughnuts have a place.

Ashley also specializes in helping people with weight management, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Your insurance may cover a session with Ashley if you have one of these conditions. Ashley currently accepts Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BlueChoice Medicaid plan only). Ashley firmly believes that cooking is at the heart of health, and she started a live stream cooking show run by Registered Dietitians who teach you how to cook meals that are both nutritious and delicious. To get you in the habit of cooking balanced meals throughout the week, the recipes are posted on the website ahead of time so you can grab everything you need at the grocery store and tune-in to the show to cook along with the Registered Dietitian! This is where you learn all the nutrition golden nuggets and how to apply them to every day life. Because shows are live, you can ask questions and get answers in real time. It's like having a dietitian in your kitchen - for free! The website even auto-generates a grocery list for you using the recipes you've decided to cook. Talk about stress-free grocery shopping!
